How to become a Psychiatrist

Those who aspire to become psychiatrists have to first complete an undergraduate degree and satisfy pre-med requirements. They also have to pass the MCAT (Medical College Admission Test).

After passing the MCAT, students must graduate from medical school and enrol in a residency program in psychiatry.

The duration of residency in psychiatry varies depending on the country, but it can take between four to six years. Upon successful completion, doctors qualify to take an exam in order to become board certified.
